On the Main Stage during Cypress Gardens' Country Jamboree Weekend, Charlie Daniels Volunteer Jam will have fans tapping their feet along with Shooter Jennings and 38 Special on April 19 at 6 p.m.! The first Volunteer Jam, in 1974, was organized because Daniels wanted to record songs before a large, live audience for his "Fire on the Mountain" album. Since then the tour has continued and includes an all-star lineup year-to-year.
Daniels latest album, "Deuces," features duets of his own hits as well as country, pop and R&B classics with stars including Brad Paisley, Travis Tritt, Vince Gill and Dolly Parton. In January, Daniels was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry. The singer has scored hits on rock, country, pop and Christian charts, and his signature song, "The Devil Went Down to Georgia," earned him a Grammy in 1979.
Shooter Jennings is back on tour with an aggressive line up of shows. The outlaw country-rocker plans to headline more than 125 clubs and theaters through the end of the year supporting his third album, "The Wolf."
And Southern rockers 38 Special, together for more than two decades, will also be on hand. Among the group's best-known songs are "Caught Up In You" (1982) and "If I'd Been the One" (1983), both of which hit #1 on Billboard magazine's album rock chart, and "Second Chance" (1989), a #1 hit on Billboard's adult contemporary chart, and sung by former member Max Carl who is now a member of Grand Funk Railroad. Other hit singles include "Hold on Loosely" (1981) and "Back Where You Belong" (1984).
The show starts at 6 p.m. and is included in park admission, so bring your lawn chairs or enjoy complimentary bench seating.
